SUMMARY

New Activists for Conservation.

The city is constantly under development. There are a lot of opportunities for professionals. Some of them would enjoy the presence of old buildings. They become the new activists for conservation and offer many brilliant ideas. Monument conservation not only restores the structure and visual appearance, but it is also critical to conserve its building character and historic value. Queen's Pier gave rise to public concern for conservation issues. Monuments are not just history records. They are also embodiments of collective memory of the Hong Kong people. Public should pay a closer attention to conservation matters and contemplate their meaning. How should Hong Kong strike a balance between conservation and development?
