Animation is an art of movement. This work has clearly demonstrated the technique of simplicity in animation. Without rich facial features and expression, the characters’ emotions and feelings can still be vividly conveyed through the meticulous design of movement. Animation is commonly mistaken as movement. The virtue of great animation is animating the thought process. In other words, every movement is a result of the character’s thinking. Every bold movement or subtle gestures are the reflection of the mind. In order to achieve this level of animation, a solid understanding of the animation principles in timing and spacing is a must. Despite the medium of the animation, these animation principles were developed during the Golden Age of Disney, which has laid down the irreplaceable foundation on which all latest 3D animations are built.
