SUMMARY :As a vehicle to reveal the identities of people other than just cover our bodies, clothes have a special meaning to me. While I saunter around the Hong Kong residential estates, especially the public houses, the sun-drying clothes hanging outside the buildings fascinate me. It is because in the open areas, the drying-rack laden with tons of personal items such as tops and bottoms, overcoats and underwear, caps and socks, and what have you are once transformed to public installation under my nose, unveiling the characters of their hosts and their families. Each item seemingly invites me to ponder over their intimate lives of Hong Kong people.
My work is to inject my perception of Hong Kong living condition to Chinese painting. In this prosperous city, people can only afford a cramped flat. My painting is intended to delineate the overloaded racks to reveal the suffocation of abysmal living conditions of Hong Kong people. (The text is provided by the student) HOW TO CITE
