The business environment for local agriculture is deteriorating due to the spread of bird flu and rising competition from mainland farm produce. The government is blamed for not promoting local agricultural products. 香港政府以維護自由市場原則，忽視本地農業的存在價值，導致農業一蹶不振。禽流感肆虐，政府停止輸入內地活雞。嘉美雞是香港研製的品種，可以殺出血路。政府農業政策模糊，令投資者失望。有豬農希望創立香港品牌，培育健康豬隻，可惜市場並不接受。政府實行與內地一樣的有機認證制度，令本地的與內地的蔬菜變成同一等級，香港蔬菜的優勢盡失。
