The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department introduces the Organic Farming Conversion Scheme, aiming at raising the competitiveness and market share of local farms. The Vegetable Marketing Organization helps distribute their organic produce to supermarkets and health food stores. However, not too many farms participate in the Scheme.
香港入口蔬菜數量不斷上升，導致本地蔬菜在市場的佔有率下降。為了提升競爭力，漁農署推行有機耕作轉型計劃，揀選試驗區域；轄下的農場在政府支援下研究新技術。這些有機蔬菜由蔬菜統營處批發、銷售，客源主要是超級市場和健康食品店。計劃推行後，參加的農戶人數大跌。學者指出，農戶覺得有機耕作工序繁複，收入卻不多，漁農署應該檢討計劃。
