What Befall Indigenous Residents?
The government has controversially introduced changes to the Village Representative election system, which are seen by some as undermining the rights of indigenous inhabitants. The Heung Yee Kuk has been criticized for not expressing the opposition of indigenous people, resulting in the foundation of the Association of New Territories Indigenous Residents to better safeguard their rights.
