After many education reforms, parents are losing confidence in local schools and turning their attention to international schools. Local schools emphasise academic achievements, but international schools focus on cultivating their students' morals and interests. Nevertheless, having less than proficient Chinese might become an hindrance in daily life and restrict one's career options.
