Compressed was inspired by the pressurized culture of contemporary Hong Kong. As in most of my artworks, figures are portrayed without facial expressions. These vacant faces represent urban life in the city, which robs us of our identity as citizens. Lost in the crowds, we’re close together but isolated, compressed physically but ultimately alone.
(The English text is provided by the student)《Ｃｏｍｐｒｅｓｓｅｄ》的靈感來自現代香港的擠迫文化。一如我過往大部份的作品，畫中的人物都是沒有臉部表情的。這些虛空的臉孔，表現了城市生活；當我們活在當中，自我正被奪去。我們迷失於人群裏，縱然大家的距離很近，但卻彼此分隔；身體雖被擠擁，卻感受著無比的孤寂。
