In order to take care of their children and families, many women give up their careers and become housewives. Their lives revolve around household chores, and they usually have poor self-images. Middle-aged women also find it difficult to re-enter the job market. The Hong Kong Homemakers’ Alliance strives for the right of local housewives.家庭主婦照料孩子，放棄事業，過著刻板而沉悶的生活。她們以家庭為中心，沒有私人空間，生活的圈子日漸狹窄。她們為家庭犧牲，卻得不到家人的欣賞，自我形象及價值偏低。中年婦女再就業，可以選擇的職業並不多。政府提供的培訓課程，不少是照顧者的工作。「香港主婦聯盟」認為家庭主婦也是一份職業，為她們爭取應有的權益。
