Old family photographs of the departed possess significant meanings. My memory of my Grandfather is limited; I knew him mainly from scattered youth memories, photographs, and accounts told by my relatives. By reprinting fragments of a portrait of him one at a time, I trace the details of his enlarged contours. There, I find his features were not the most significant thing that made him my Grandfather, but the realization of my own existence came because of him became the nexus of our relationship. In the end, that single photograph not only works as retention of memories, the reprinted fragments created new ones in the process.

舊的家庭照片當中常常出現一些已經過身的親人,這些照片不剩只能讓我們悼念死去的親人,更成為他們存在過的證據,同時間提醒我們自己的存在跟他們息息相關。雖然,我爺爺的臉對我很陌生,但我們的血液是相連的,這是永遠改變不了的事實。在黑房重曬的過程中,他這張照片慢慢成為了我對他的印象。這個重現的過程中,一張張的照片成為了我對他悼念的紀念碑。而當我把照片放大的時候,我重現的每張照片都是在尋找他臉上的特徵。在追蹤這些特徵的同時,也一直找尋著我與爺爺之間的關係。
