Everything Starts from Dongjiang.
The quality of fresh water imported from Dongjiang is declining because of pollution caused by the industrial development of southern Guangdong province, and also because of damage to water pipes during road maintenance in Hong Kong. Experts suggest that both Guangdong and Hong Kong sides should do something about it.
香港自來水水質日益下降，源於中國廣東省南部工商業發展迅速而污染東江水，或香港的掘路工程破壞輸水管而影響食水。港府推卸責任，歸咎於大廈水管保養不足。香港自來水主要來自東江水，開放式水管令輸水過程易受污染，影響水質。香港和廣東省政府建造密封式輸水管道供應潔淨食水，議員與專家都認為這方案治標不治本，應該加強保護上游水源。
